Monday, October 20, 2014, 6 pm

The Colombian artist María José Arjona develops her performative practice in Bogotá and in New York, where she collaborated with Marina Abramović, among others. In her performances of extreme duration or cyclical repetition Arjona examines various concepts of time in space. She uses her body to explore boundaries between personal concepts of identity and political architectures. For 2015 she is invited to Hamburg to commission a new work for the performance festivals Let’s Risk the Body.

Arjona’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout Europe, South America, Asia and the US. Her pieces have been reviewed in publications such as Art In America, The New York Times, The Guardian(UK), Whitewall Magazine, Art Nexus International, Arte Al Dia, The Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald, Mag Magazine, Wynwood Magazine, El tiempo (COL), El Espectador (COL), Corriere Della Sera (IT), Revista Arcadia (COL), Revista Dinners and many others.
